Gentner Drummond urges Oklahomans to seek generic drug settlement payments

Oklahoma residents may qualify for payouts under a $96.5 million generic drug settlement following price manipulation claims, AG Gentner Drummond says.

Attorney General Gentner Drummond urged Oklahoma residents to check their eligibility for generic drug settlement payments. The money resolves claims that manufacturers illegally raised prices on common generic medications.

Drummond joined 47 other attorneys general from various states and territories to file the distribution plan. Generic drug companies paid the funds following accusations of artificially inflating medication prices.

“Drug companies colluded to drive up prices on medications that Oklahomans depend on,” Drummond stated. “When companies manipulate the marketplace, it is consumers who ultimately bear the costs. I am holding these companies accountable for their actions and fighting for a fair, competitive marketplace.”

The U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut granted preliminary approval for the distribution plan. Settlements across all participating companies total around $96.5 million.

The manufacturers with announced agreements include:

  • Glenmark
  • Lannett
  • Bausch
  • Apotex
  • Heritage
  • Emcure

Emcure is the parent company of Heritage. Consumers may qualify if they purchased covered medications between May 2009 and Dec. 2019.

State attorneys general enforce antitrust laws to protect consumers from unlawful trade practices. Multistate settlements resolve complex civil claims through court-supervised compensation funds.
