Teen arrested in stabbing at north Tulsa event center

A 16-year-old boy faces felony charges after a stabbing at a north Tulsa venue on Sunday. The injured teen was hospitalized, and officers booked the suspect into juvenile custody.

The Tulsa Police Department responded to the California Event Center near North Sheridan Road and East Easton Street around midnight. Officers found a 15-year-old victim near the entrance.

The boy had a severe knife wound to his upper left chest. Venue security guards were already administering first aid when officers arrived.

Police said the two teens had a history of arguments. They crossed paths at the Tulsa venue on Sunday.

A verbal argument started between the two teenagers, according to police. The 16-year-old suspect then pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim.

Witnesses pointed out the suspect in the parking lot. Officers quickly took him into custody while managing a large crowd.

The victim identified the suspect as the attacker. Multiple witnesses also identified him to officers.

First responders transported the victim to St. Francis Hospital. Medical staff treated him and gave him staples.

The victim was later discharged in stable condition. He survived the attack.

In Oklahoma, a youthful offender charge allows certain juvenile cases to enter the adult court system. The process determines whether a minor receives juvenile rehabilitation or adult penalties.

Police said the 16-year-old suspect is charged as a youthful offender with assault and battery with a deadly weapon. Officers booked him into the Tulsa County Juvenile Detention Center.
