Nearly 2,000 Oklahomans register to vote online in Oklahoma City

In Oklahoma City, 1,906 people completed online voter registration in Oklahoma before the deadline, marking the highest single-day total this year.

State election officials processed almost two thousand digital signups in Oklahoma City before the October 9 deadline. The total marked the single highest day of electronic voter signups this year. Exactly 1,906 people submitted an electronic form.

Some people reported technical issues on Friday. The Oklahoma State Election Board said a brief communication problem happened between its system and Service Oklahoma’s data. Staff discovered the problem. Nearly 800 applications went through successfully.

State Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax praised the agencies that fixed the digital portal.

“We appreciate our partners at Service Oklahoma and the Office of Management and Enterprise Services for their quick response in helping to resolve the issue,” Ziriax said. “We regret that there was a brief issue with the interface, but it appears to have had a minimal impact on voter registration applications.”

Ziriax said hundreds of electronic applications arrived once the system functioned properly.

The state board manages balloting records across Oklahoma City and coordinates with local offices. Staff maintain connections with other state data systems to process incoming citizen records.

Voters facing technical trouble can always submit a paper application. Residents may deliver the form in person or send it by mail to their County Election Board.
