Tulsa seeks volunteers to review federal HUD grant applications

The City of Tulsa is seeking volunteers to review federal HUD grant applications for local housing and community development proposals through Dec. 7.

The City of Tulsa is looking for volunteers to review federal housing grant proposals this fall. Selected participants will assist the local community development committee with funding requests.

Officials need five evaluators to examine each application. The volunteers will support the City of Tulsa HUD Community Development Committee.

Every participant receives four proposals and an evaluation tool through OneDrive. Each proposal takes one to two hours to review. The process starts in early November and ends on December 7.

Volunteers will receive training on review criteria. Each session lasts one and a half hours.

  • Session 1: Wednesday, November 4 from 3-4:30 p.m. at Tulsa City Hall
  • Session 2: Thursday, November 5 from 10-11:30 a.m. at Schusterman-Benson Library
  • Session 3: Tuesday, November 10 from 2-3:30 p.m. virtual

Submitted plans cover homebuyer efforts, rental housing, homelessness, youth after-school programs, and job training. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development funds projects for low- and moderate-income residents.

HUD grants support local housing initiatives and neighborhood development projects across the country. Community committees routinely evaluate applications to allocate these federal funds.

Apply by emailing [email protected] by Friday, October 30. Volunteers must state their preferred Tulsa training session date.
