Woman arrested in Tulsa accused of driving stolen car
Tulsa police arrested a 37-year-old woman accused of driving a stolen Chevy Trax after plate readers flagged the vehicle during a traffic stop on Saturday.
Officers in Tulsa took a 37-year-old woman into custody following a traffic stop on Saturday. The driver already faced an active felony warrant tied to another vehicle theft case.
The Tulsa Police Department said license plate reader cameras flagged the car. It was traveling southbound on North Sheridan Road near East Independence Street.
Officers located the maroon Chevy Trax on Admiral Place. They turned on emergency lights to conduct a stop.
The driver pulled into the Rest Inn & Suites parking lot. That hotel is near East Admiral Place and Memorial Drive. Police arrested her without incident.
The woman told officers she bought the SUV on Saturday for $500. She claimed she bought it at a different hotel.
Investigators also spoke to the vehicle owner. The owner said someone took car keys off a slot machine at the Osage Casino. Surveillance video from the casino shows a woman taking keys. She then drove away in the car.
The owner told police no one had permission to drive or sell the vehicle.
Court records show the woman pleaded guilty to Possession of a Stolen Vehicle in 2025. A warrant had been issued for alleged parole violations.
Police transported the driver to the Tulsa County Jail. She was booked on suspicion of the following offenses:
- Possession of a Stolen Vehicle
- Warrant for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle
License plate reader systems scan passing vehicles to match tags against law enforcement databases. Officers then verify the information before making a stop.
Prosecutors in Tulsa will review the case to determine formal charges.
