Kayakers find man’s body in Ottawa County river near park

Kayakers discovered an unidentified man dead in an Ottawa County river near Bicentennial Park on Saturday. Officials have moved the remains to determine who he was. The Grand River Dam Authority confirmed the initial discovery of the remains.

The man has not yet been identified, according to the Grand River Dam Authority. GRDA Police and the Quapaw Nation Marshals recovered the body from the water.

First responders transport recovered remains to medical examiners to confirm identity and cause of death. State examiners handle these forensic reviews across Oklahoma.

Workers sent the body to the Medical Examiner’s office for examination. The agency will release further details in Ottawa County later.
