This policy explains what information The Tulsa Report (“we”, “us”) collects when you use this website, how we use it and the choices you have.

Information you give us

Email. When you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.
Comments. When you comment on a story, we collect the name, email address and website you enter, and your comment. Your email address is never published.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our servers record basic technical information for each visit: your IP address, browser type, the pages you view, the page that referred you and the time of your visit. We use it to keep the site running, secure and fast, and to understand which stories readers find useful.

Cookies

If you leave a comment, you may choose to save your name, email and website in a cookie so you do not have to enter them again. Staff who log in to the site receive login cookies. We do not use advertising cookies. Content embedded from other websites, such as videos or posts, behaves as if you had visited that website, and it may set its own cookies.

How we use information

To answer your messages, publish and moderate comments, investigate tips, correct our reporting, protect the site from spam and abuse, and meet our legal obligations.

Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. We share it only with service providers who run the site for us, such as hosting and email, and only as far as they need it, or when the law requires it.

Social media

Our Facebook, Instagram, X and Pinterest links and share buttons are ordinary links. Nothing is sent to those networks unless you click one, and once you do, that network’s own privacy policy applies.

How long we keep it

Comments and their metadata are kept for as long as the comment is published. Emails are kept for as long as we need them to follow up on a story or a request. Server logs are kept for a limited period and then deleted.

Your choices

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing [email protected]. We will respond within a reasonable time and will not treat you differently for asking.
