Maggie Zingman hosts Tulsa event for families of unsolved murder victims

In Tulsa, Maggie Zingman hosted the Brittany's Bridge event to offer resources and support to families of unsolved homicide and missing persons cases.

Maggie Zingman gathered families of unsolved homicide and missing persons cases in Tulsa on Saturday. The meeting offered support to people living without answers in unresolved cases. The gathering took place at the Bronson Brookside Library.

Zingman created the event, titled Brittany’s Bridge, after her 18-year-old daughter was killed. Her daughter, Brittany Phillips, was raped and murdered in her Tulsa apartment in 2004. Tulsa police investigated hundreds of possible suspects. The case remains unsolved after 22 years.

Zingman said her mission now extends beyond solving her daughter’s case.

“It’s about giving a voice to other families,” Zingman said. “This is our 22nd year, and it took me a while to learn that I did have a voice and how to use it.”

Zingman said she has met families across Oklahoma and across the country. Many families feel isolated during ongoing searches. The group connects relatives with each other and provides investigative resources.

Zingman said she keeps a picture of her daughter with her every day. She said her efforts give her hope to spare other families from similar pain.

“Brittany’s case is 22 years old. We may never solve it, and I can’t live in the if onlys,” Zingman said. “But what I can live in is that her legacy is that I refuse to let other families have to deal with this.”

Phillips was a chemistry major who planned to become a cancer specialist. Zingman said she will continue advocating for unsolved cases. She said her daughter can still save lives through this outreach.

Unsolved homicide investigations often remain open with law enforcement agencies while detectives review tips. Support organizations assist relatives during long investigations. Families often share resources to keep public attention on cold cases.

The event took place in Tulsa on Saturday afternoon. More information about the case is available at brittanyphillipsmurder.net.
