Gas leak blocks traffic on 71st and Yale in Tulsa

A gas leak shut down road access at a major Tulsa intersection. Drivers cannot use the crossing during the emergency response.

The Tulsa Police Department reported that traffic is currently blocked near East 71st Street and South Yale Avenue. The hazard forced officers to shut down travel lanes in the area.

The department said all eastbound and westbound traffic is blocked at this time. Road closures remain active.

Local police departments secure traffic perimeters around utility hazards to protect motorists. Crews work to isolate the damage before travel lanes can safely reopen.

Authorities in Tulsa said the road will be reopened as soon as it is safe to do so.
