In Oklahoma City, Sergeant Michael Moore and K9 Dash were named top officers by the Attorney General after the dog helped capture 26 felony suspects.
The Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office named Sergeant Michael Moore and K9 Dash top officers in Oklahoma City. The four-year-old German shepherd and his handler receive their award on October 28.
A stolen vehicle dragged and injured Dash earlier this year. The dog logged more than 160 deployments in Oklahoma City. He helped take in 26 felony suspects.
In Stringtown, the Mack Alford Correctional Center stopped allowing outside books into the facility. The Department of Corrections said the security measure keeps out drugs and other contraband. Inmates may keep existing books and access reading materials on tablets. It is unclear if the policy will expand to other state prisons.
State corrections departments set security rules to protect staff and inmate safety. Police canine teams assist handlers with tracking suspects across Oklahoma City.
Vandals struck parts of downtown Ardmore. The area seeks volunteers and donations to help clean up. Officials said cleanup costs take money away from other community improvements.
